University of Washington MBA Program
The Situation
The University of Washington Business School contacted Solid State to redesign the MBA Program section of its website. The MBA Program needed an updated look and unique position to stand apart from competitors. The numerous navigation areas required on the site posed an interesting challenge. Other challenges: several content zones were extremely large - and we were asked to create a design approach that could easily be adopted by websites supporting various other UW academic programs.
The Approach
Solid State initialized the project by doing a thorough competitive analysis of the nation's leading MBA-granting institutions. We then reorganized the UW MBA Program site's information architecture to define clear communication channels by audience type and service area. Extensive content areas such as the Application Process were subdivided into digestible portions with a unique navigation set. Certain areas of the site were designed to be updated daily with fresh content and graphics, providing reasons for visitors to return. The site's new look and feel, although very different from the University of Washington website, leveraged key UW branding components and positions the Business School as a competitive leader with an international footprint.
