Metabeam
The Situation
Metabeam is a Manhattan Beach, California technology and media company that provides highly usable interactive menus for next-generation DVDs plus authoring tools for entertainment software professionals. The company is managed by expert leaders in the fields of software and interactive design, but depends for success on making itself understood to lay people. Metabeam retained Solid State to help communicate the value of its core proposition, Metamenu, to industry interests and potential investors.
The Approach
Solid State groomed the Metabeam business plan, crafting accessible language that clarified and differentiated the Metamenu proposition. When a major funding opportunity came up literally overnight, Solid State updated the Metabeam business plan on the same basis to help the principals succeed. When in 2006 Metabeam funded the launch of the Media Experience Trade Association, an industry group that promotes more usable technology interfaces, Solid State helped draft the META charter; developed the agenda for the first annual META symposium; and supplied partner Tom Farmer to moderate live panel discussions at the event. Solid State provides Metabeam with continuing strategic advisory services.
